The Conway Stewart Dinkie was made in hundreds of variations from 1922 until around 1965.  This pen, the Dinkie 550 appeared in 1955 and was replaced by the Dinkie 560 in 1963.

The pen is finished in an unusually attractive marbled pattern described  'Marbled Plum with Dijon Mustard Streaks', I think it describes the effect very well.  The surface is excellent and the imprint is very clear and crisp.  The gold filling on the clip, cap stud, cap band, and lever is similarly pristine.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested, including a new ink sac.  Although the ink sac is a relatively small No. 15, it almost fills the length of the barrel so the pen takes up a reasonable volume of ink, probably more than a modern ink cartridge.  The photograph shows the pen before sac trimming and reassembly. The 14 Ct. Gold nib writes with a medium line with a touch of flex giving a small, but effective, line variation.

The Dinkie is a small pen but, at five inches in length when the cap is posted on the end of the barrel, it is comfortable in use and has a high quality feel.

The Conway Stewart Dinkies, among the last of the English lever filling pens, are now very collectable.  This Marbled Plum example is a jewel of a pen.
