Utilizing Henry Grey's innovative universal rolling mill process, the company manufactured strong, single-piece beams with parallel flanges that quickly replaced older, less efficient built-up and riveted structural members, helping usher in the age of the modern skyscraper.

At Bethlehem Steel's Combination Rolling Mill, a diverse range of structural shapes was produced, including angles, channels, tees, I-beams, and H-beams. After rolling and finishing, these products were transported to the Beam Yards, where they were sorted, stored, processed, and prepared for shipment to construction projects throughout the nation.

The Beam Yards patch honors the workers who handled the finished steel products that left the mills and became the bridges, skyscrapers, factories, shipyards, and infrastructure that helped build America. Their work connected the production floor to the customer, ensuring that Bethlehem Steel's structural shapes reached job sites across the country.
