This one-of-a-kind cross is expertly handcrafted from ancient bog oak, sourced just a few hundred meters from Esker Monastery near Athenry, Co. Galway. Steeped in both local heritage and natural history, the bog oak is estimated to be between 3,000 and 6,000 years old, offering a powerful connection to Ireland’s pre-Christian past and its enduring spiritual traditions.
The base stone, also gathered from the same sacred landscape, contains small, timeworn fossils and is thoughtfully embedded with additional pieces of bog oak, creating a layered interplay between earth, time, and craftsmanship. Together, these elements form a striking, meditative sculpture — a celebration of the Irish land and its long memory.
Standing 45cm (17.5") tall, this piece makes a unique and meaningful addition to any home, studio, or sacred space. It's a compelling gift for anyone drawn to heritage, symbolism, and natural artistry — a rare heirloom infused with history, spirituality, and a deep sense of place.
