Crosswise paper refers to a sheet of paper that is positioned or written on horizontally, with the long side (width) of the paper at the top, and the short side (height) at the sides—also called landscape orientation.
In a classroom or exam setting, when teachers say “write on crosswise paper,” they mean to turn the paper sideways and write across the wider width. This is common in some schools for essays, math solutions, or test answers, especially in the Philippines.
If using a standard 8.5" x 11" bond paper:
Lengthwise (Portrait): 8.5" wide × 11" tall
Crosswise (Landscape): 11" wide × 8.5" tall
So, crosswise simply changes the paper’s orientation to horizontal for writing or presentation purposes.
