An eight-pointed star geometry from the Caucasus, restated in 1200 Reeds

The eight-pointed star is one of the oldest carpet motifs in the southwest Caucasus — a bold tessellating geometry that 19th-century Kazak and Shirvan village weavers used to fill the field rather than orbit a central medallion. This rug quotes that tradition: dense star repeats, no single focal point, a rhythm carried by geometry instead of by a hierarchy. The palette stays cool — indigos, ivories, restrained reds at the points — in the way Caucasian village rugs once read against unwhitewashed stone walls and low winter light.

How it feels in a room

Architectural before it is decorative. Reads strongest under cool daylight or cool-temperature LED, where the indigo holds its blue without warming toward navy. In a warm-incandescent room the field softens but the geometry still drives the composition.

Not a machine-washable rug. Vacuum at the regular setting. Blot spills promptly with a clean dry cloth — the tight geometric weave resists penetration. Professional clean every 24 months.

Designer styling

Pairs with leather (oxblood, cognac), walnut shelving, slate or limewashed walls, and brass or oil-rubbed-bronze hardware. Avoid pairing with strong floral upholstery; the geometry argues with curvilinear motifs.
