Marula oil is a new oil which meets the demand for a trendy, marketable, efficacious ingredient. It is pressed from the flavorful kernels of the Marula Tree (Sclerocarya birrea), a lush, expansive tree that is native to southern and western regions of Africa. The Marula Tree bears 2 round yellowish fruits that are said to be a more potent source of Vitamin C than oranges.  Marula oil is naturally stable, contains anti-oxidants, vitamins E and C and compares favourably in studies with other new oils such as olive, hemp and palm oil. 

Marula Oil is an all-natural, cold pressed, highly nutritious, very light textured oil. It is naturally soothing, fast-absorbing and suitable for all skin types including reactive and sensitive.

Marula oil contains a large proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids and natural antioxidants which make the oil very stable. The fatty acid composition of marula oil includes:

Oleic acid (70–78%)
Polyunsaturated fatty acids:
Linoleic acid (4.0–7.0%)
Alpha-linolenic acid (0.1–0.7%)
Saturated fatty acids:
Palmitic acid (9–12%)
Stearic acid (5.0–8.0%)
Arachidonic acid (0.3–0.7%)
Tocopherols, sterols and flavonoids, with antioxidant action, procyanidin, gallotannin and catechins are also found in marula oil.

Application

Marula Oil is used as a (beauty oil) for the women of the Tsonga people of Mozambiq 11& South Africa. They also use the oil as a massage oil for their babies. Marula oil is naturally healing and high in ant-aging properties. It leaves skin hydrated as well as skin soft and supple, with increased elasticity. It is an effective moisturizer. It smoothes out wrinldes as it soaks in and conditions the sldn over time. Marul oil is fast absorbing and has a non-greasy texture. Marula oil leaves sldn healthy, beautiful, a. age-defying.
