This 20 centimes stamp was issued by the République Rwandaise in 1975 as part of the Protection de la Nature series. The design, created by J. Van Noten, depicts Ankole cattle and birds grazing near the sources salines (salt springs), an important natural resource in Rwanda’s ecosystem. To the right, the stamp features the Impatiens stuhlmannii flower, a native species symbolizing the country’s rich biodiversity. The hilly Rwandan landscape in the background highlights the harmonious balance between wildlife, livestock, and the natural environment. This issue emphasizes Rwanda’s commitment to environmental preservation and conservation awareness during the 1970s.
