The warm red ground with central medallion is the most photographed version of a Tehran workshop carpet — the one foreigners assume is “the” Persian rug. From the 1960s on, urban Tehran workshops produced this composition at scale for the domestic market, then later for export. The geometry is conservative on purpose: it works under any furniture arrangement, under any lighting, in any season.
This 1200 Reeds machine-woven piece quotes that classic urban-workshop reading. It is a design-language reference, not a vintage Tehran rug. Not hand-knotted.
Conversational. The warm red ground draws people toward the centre — living rooms with the seating arranged around the rug benefit from the gathering effect. Reads richest under warm incandescent; under cool LED the red flattens slightly but stays warm enough to anchor.
3×6, 4×6, 5×7.5, 5×8, 8×10, 8×11, 10×13. See variant selector for current pricing and stock.
Pairs with warm woods (walnut, cherry, oak), brass or aged-bronze, traditional upholstery in cream, gold, or oxblood, and warm wall colours. This is the rug to put under a coffee table where conversation actually happens.
Best for: warm-traditional living rooms, conversation-led seating arrangements, family rooms, owners who want the recognisable Persian rug profile.
Skip if: your interior is cool-modernist or you want a subtle background textile.
