"HOW'D YOU MIX THAT?"

You might get some curious questions when you show off a painting made with fluorescent acrylics, like these UV-reactive limited-edition colors from Schmincke. Under normal light, Akademie Neon Acrylics are oddly bright (photos can't really capture this) because they emit energy that's barely on the visible spectrum. These pigments are typically used for utilitarian purposes, like safety vests and street signs, but they've also been used by artists since midcentury for that impossible-to-mix glow.

This set contains five full-size (60 mL) tubes of Akademie Acrylic in Neon Yellow, Neon Red, Neon Pink, Neon Green, and Neon Blue. Mixable and compatible with other acrylics — feel free to include these in your regular acrylic painting workflow.

Please note that fluorescent pigments are fugitive; they fade over time and should not be used for commissioned work or long-term display. To preserve fluorescent artwork, store it in a drawer where UV light cannot reach it.
