Story

This beautiful tea comes from a very special place in Yunnan Province, where farmers sing to the trees during the harvest. A distinct terroir where mist, biodiversity, and ancient tea forests shape its distinctive profile. There is a legend about Jing Mai that dates back to 106 B.C. and has been passed along by the Dai people for many generations. A legend that tells of a prince in search of a better homeland for his tribe. Traveling south along what is now known as the Lancang River, they encountered great herds of elephants, so many that the river was named the “Thousand Elephants River.”

During a hunt, the tribe came upon a mysterious Gold Horse Deer. As they pursued it, something remarkable happened, the creature matched their pace, running when they ran, slowing when they slowed. After several days, it vanished without a trace. When the tribe looked around, they realized they had arrived in a land of extraordinary beauty and abundance. They named it Jing Mai, “a new land of opportunity.”
