The lighthouse pictured here is Cape Neddick Lighthouse (aka "Nubble Lighthouse") in Cape Neddick, Maine, completed about 1880. (Lots about that history here. ) There are plenty of photos of it out there, historic and contemporary, but none I've found that portrays a sense of this grassy expanse from which one might look up at it. And for me it's all about that perspective, with only the heads and shoulders of this seated pair visible, their bodies lost to a steep incline I presume--which has the effect of making them seem as if bobbing along in a sea of (blue) grass. A delight.
