Uses and Benefits of PREempt CS20 Sterilant High Level Disinfectant

PREempt™ CS20 is a sterilant and high-level disinfectant for tools and implements in 20 minutes. It is ready to use, and no dilution is required. It can be reused for up to 14 days in a soaking tray. It is ideal for use on professional stainless steel and hard plastic tools and implements.

High level disinfection is recommended for semi-critical tools or implements, that come in contact with mucous membranes or non-intact skin during use, but do not ordinarily penetrate the skin or enter normally sterile areas of the body. In personal service settings, this can include tools such as reusable foot files, tweezers used for ingrown hairs, microblade handles, nail clippers and cuticle pushers, or needle holders.

Health Canada is responsible for oversight of high-level disinfectant label claims and has approved the re-use of PREempt™ CS20 for 14 days. Exceptions to this allowance occur if the solution is visibly soiled, or if the indicator strip fails to produce the required measurement. In these cases, the solution should be discarded even if the 14-day period has not yet been reached.

Directions for Use

Follow specific disinfection directions depending on the disinfection and sterilization needs for each instrument.

Before Use

• Ensure that the instrument, equipment, or device material to be disinfected is compatible
• Compatible materials include acrylic, silicone rubber, high-density plastics, and stainless steel
• Not compatible with copper, brass, carbon tipped devices, and anodized aluminum

High Level Disinfection

• Place pre-cleaned, rinsed and dried medical devices and instruments in solution of undiluted PREempt CS20
• Allow devices to soak for at least 20 minutes
• Remove and rinse with sterile water, or potable tap water

Sterilization

• Place pre-cleaned, rinsed and dried medical devices and instruments in solution of undiluted PREempt CS20
  
• Do not dillute
• DO NOT soak tools overnight
• Remove and rinse with sterile water

Reuse Period of Disinfection

• The use-life of this product can be verified by using a 2% AHP test strip.
• PREempt CS20 solution may be used and reused for up to a MAXIMUM of 14 days provided a 2% AHP test strip indicates a pass according to the instructions.
