There are many different species of butterflies in the rainforest.  The large blue morpho butterfly has a wing span from 5 to 8 inches.  Brilliantly colored wallowtails and birdwings are also quite large and often have ornamental tails.   The Queen Alexandra's birdwing is the largest butterfly in the world with a wingspan of 11 inches.  Many tropical butterflies have vivid colors and interesting symmetrical patterns.  The many different species of butterflies create a spectacular display of color across the tropical rivers and canopy.  Unfortunately, their beauty attracts collectors who kill them removing them from the gene pool.  Changing climate and habitat alteration has also greatly affected butterfly diversity in many environments.   Global Warming Wear  presents our Flutter textile series for all who love and respect these beautiful creatures.
