Purple handwoven sambalpuri cotton ikat saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of poetry on the loom. This saree is designed with dancing girl motif and double ikat flower designs woven in checkered pattern on the body. Rudraksha dobby motifs are woven on the border of the saree. The traditional animal motifs on the pallu add to the beauty of this handloom saree.
