This charming Edwardian two‑piece summer dress, dating to around 1903, is a beautifully preserved example of early 20th‑century lightweight cotton fashion. Made from a thin, printed cotton fabric, the ensemble features a delicate pattern of light blue flowers and leaves on a pale ground—an unmistakable hallmark of warm‑weather Edwardian daywear.

The bodice is distinguished by a high neckline crafted from bobbin lace (or crocheted lace), which continues as decorative trim across the chest. From this lace panel hang small yarn tassels, adding movement and texture. The upper sleeves, from the elbow upward, are also worked entirely in the same crocheted yarn, creating a soft, handcrafted contrast to the printed cotton. The characteristic hanging chest - a defining silhouette of the early 1900s - supports the dating of the garment.

The sleeves fall into two cascading flounces, while the bust area is gently ruffled. The skirt is gathered at the waist and tied with a blue ribbon belt, enhancing the feminine Edwardian silhouette. At the hem, three rows of ruffles add volume and charm, and the skirt extends into a graceful train. Attached to the skirt is a petticoat trimmed with an all‑around lace band, completing the ensemble with period‑appropriate structure.

The dress is in very good antique condition. The top of the collar requires only a few stitches to secure it, and the skirt shows tiny, barely noticeable abrasions. Remarkably, the ensemble remains sturdy enough to be carefully worn today. Decorative items shown in photographs are not included.

A rare and beautifully preserved example of Edwardian summer fashion, ideal for collectors of antique dresses, historic textiles, and museum‑quality garments.
