The best parcels of Santenay are those to the north of the appellation alongside the vines of Chassagne-Montrachet. This village in the south of the Côte de Beaune is more than 80% planted with Pinot Noir and therefore produces mainly red wines.
Tasting: Santenay reveals a candied and sustained nose with notes of flambéed banana and a touch of woodiness brought by its ageing in barrel. It is a consistent wine with a certain unctuousness in the mouth but also a lot of energy.
Wine & Food Pairing: Shellfish / Oysters / Seafood, Fish, White meat and poultry
