This is an original 24x24” oil painting on a 1” thick birch wood tondo panel depicting a wicker basket haul from a local Ottawa, Canada farmer's market with blackberries, onions, garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, zucchini blossoms and fresh sourdough bread.
In general, wealth acquisition occupies a large portion of our thoughts. Do we have enough of it, how can we get more? Society often feels like a rat race, competing and ever-striving for advancement, paycheques and accolades to the point where there’s only one iteration of wealth that’s considered. However, there’s a vast array of richness in the act of attending a farmer’s market and filling up a wicker basket. You have the time to enjoy a quiet morning, outdoors, surrounded by community and fresh, local food, planning out the meals you’ll make with the produce, the friends and family you might feed with it. Our market wealth extends beyond financial planning, it can be found in the small, contemplative moments, the glow of sunlight through a zucchini blossom, the fresh breeze over a tomato stand, the aroma of freshly baked bread and the anticipation of enjoying it.

The painting comes with a signed and dated certificate of authenticity.
A signature look of my work is how the painting wraps around the edges of the panel. The entire piece, edges included, is coated in a satin varnish.
The photo referenced for this painting was captured by a dear friend of the artist, Dianna Hann.
