Established in 1814, the distillery survived three years before it closed. A hundred and fifty years later, the current business was established and lasted nineteen years before it closed again! It started up again three years later and in 1993 started producing grain whisky alongside malt. Now it is producing a range of delicious single malts and has just been named the 'Spirit of the Open', sponsoring the golf tournament for the next five years.
