Sadeghpour, Seyed Sina (1977-)
Description:
A collection of chamber works for soprano and ensemble on various instruments by Iranian-born composer Seyed Sinah Sadeghpour (1977-). In post-revolutionary Iran, musicians, especially women musicians, face great restrictions and limitations. These works were created with the intention of using the freedom gained in Germany to contribute to contemporary music for sopranos, which is forbidden in Iran. The works juxtapose older texts by Umar Khayyam (1048-1131) with newer texts written by poets from the late 19th and 20th centuries onward, but they are united by the themes of home, nature, and love. The compositions combine traditional Iranian music with contemporary Western musical techniques to create a language influenced by both. *This title is a [first introduction old score].
