The upstream and downstream pressure gauges are required by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). A relief valve of not less than 1/2 inch in size must be installed on the downstream side of the pressure control valve. Adequate drainage for the relief valve discharge must be provided. The valve must be installed in accordance with NFPA 13 for sprinkler systems or NFPA 14 for standpipe and hose systems, and maintained per NFPA 25.
