Jefferson Airplane
Description:
Just after G. Slick joined the band! Jefferson Airplane at the Fillmore in '66! Recorded from the unearthed stereo master! Including the original song "Only You" by their predecessor band, The Great Society! Jefferson Airplane was at the center of it. Grace Slick joined the band shortly after as the new vocalist. She would eventually become one of the rock scene's leading psychedelic muse, leading both the band and the times, but here is a recording of a show that is still in its infancy. In addition to founding members Marty Balin (G/Vo) and Paul Kantner (G/Vo), the band also included future "HOT TUNA" members Jorma Korkonen (G) and Jack Casady (B), and was in its golden period. The band had just finished recording their second album, and "White Rabbit," a psychedelic song synonymous with G. Slick, which is performed at this show, was unreleased at the time. The bluesy Jefferson Airplane performance is a perfect match, and the song conveys a kaleidoscopic and colorful charm. Recorded live at the Fillmore, the holy land of West Coast rock, several master tapes of this show exist, and when they were released by overseas indie labels in the past, they were mono recordings. Eternal Grooves has now acquired the stereo master. Here, for the first time in history, you can listen to the well-separated stereo recordings (tracks 1-9). The show started with the sound of airplanes taking off, named after the band's name. The band uses a lot of irregular tuning called "DADGAD," which creates a unique trippy feeling. As a bonus, a very rare live take of "Somebody To Love" from the Great Society, the band that G. Slick formed with his brother Darby Slick, the song's author, before he joined Jefferson Airplane, has been added. Included. You can hear the original version of this iconic 60's rock song. This is a rare live performance from 1966, right after G. Slick joined Jefferson Airplane, the band that ushered in the psychedelic era. Japanese commentary on the situation at that time, episodes, song titles, etc. are included on the inside cover.
