Description:
High standard of technology provided by Swiss Broadcasting Corporation! Stereo sound quality! Beautiful sound like rolling pearls! Filkschny Bern Recital March 16, 1976Filkschny is a pianist with an exceptionally beautiful tone. The piano is as clear and noble as a pearl rolling in the air. The music making like a fragrant flower, that's Filkushny. The period of his activity is long, and every period has its own charm, but this was a live performance in 1976, when he was still in his prime and shining. Blessed with a good audience, the tone of the music was rising steadily. Mozart's Dupaul Variations was the first performance in the repertoire. It is Mozart at his most elegant. Chopin is Filkusny's specialty, but this is the best performance and the sound quality is excellent. The maestro has really tapped into the drama in this piece. Even Mr. Hidekazu Yoshida, the great composer of the piece, loves this piece much more than Chopin! Janacek's piano music is so good that even Mr. Hidekazu Yoshida has declared that he likes it better than Chopin's. This is Filkushny's solo talent. The richness of the music is truly impressive. Dvořák's "Theme and Variations" was recorded in studio on the U.S. CANDIDE label, but it is extremely rare and difficult to find. It is a masterpiece that develops a different world from that of a symphony. Dvořák is a great composer of great skill. Smetana's "The Bear" was played as an encore, and as the subtitle suggests, it was a delightful performance with humor. As one would expect from Filkusny, the performance was full of room to play with the audience.*Includes liner notes in English, Japanese and German Tobu Land System
